2023-2024 Mrs. Philippines Popularity Contest

The Mrs. Philippines Popularity Contest is a program to raise funds for the building of the community center, for its scholarship program and the different projects of the organization. Candidates must be of Filipino descent or related by affinity to a person of Filipino descent. They maybe single, married, widowed or divorced. The candidate who has the most monetary votes will be the Mrs. Philippines, the 2nd placer is Mrs. Luzon. 3rd is Mrs. Visayas and 4th is Mrs. Mindanao.   Carol Fonseca is the new Mrs. Philippines; followed by Joy Roberts as Mrs. Luzon; Elmalyn Llamas, Mrs. Visayas; and Shane Gitmed as Mrs. Mindanao.

2022 Celebration of the  Fil-Am History Month

In the 103rd Congress, a resolution to nationally recognize Filipino American History Month was introduced. The House of the 111th Congress introduced a House Resolution 155 (H. RES. 155) to officially recognize this month for Filipinos. In October 2009, the Senate of the 111th Congress passed a resolution recognizing Filipino American History Month. In November 2009, Congress passed the resolution (H. RES. 780), officially recognizing October as Filipino American History Month. Since it is widely celebrated not only in California but also in other states. The Filipino Community of Sacramento and Vicinity celebrated the Fil-Am History month by Honoring Exemplary Filipino Americans of Sacramento in an event called ICON Awards, It was held on October 8, 2022, from 6:00 – 10:00pm at the Jose P. Rizal Community Center. These awardees were chosen because they made a significant impact in their career and chosen fields. The proceeds from the event will support the building and construction of a first-ever Filipino Community Center in the region.
